My daughter and I named our pain body/ shadow sides years ago. Her’s was volcano, mine was iceberg. We realized maybe a year ago those characters no longer play out, they have ben loved back into wholeness. I asked her today what mine should be now and she said butterfly. I said but that is a sweet name, what should I name my shadow side? What do I do that is difficult? She could not think of anything. We finally came up with blabbering goody too shoes. She hates that I ever say ANYTHING about her which is why I try to rarely do that.
For years I could not tolerate anger in myself or anyone else. I disowned my own anger, projected it out and rejected it in others. Curtesy of the recent upgrade via the last full moon, today I was able to be near a loved one who was expressing tremendous anger. My nervous system stayed calm. This is when we know we have integrated the energy, when it can occur and we still feel safe in the body. This is the gift our children can be to us, forcing us toeither integrate any discordant energies or suffer. When I fully allowed the other to feel the anger they were feeling without expressing it externally or repressing it, the anger quickly turned to tears. This is the gift we can offer our young ones, holding in presence as they move though their emotions. When the emotions flow, nothing is stored in cellular memory. Anything stored in cellular memory accumulates and most ultimately be released or will express as dis-ease. If children learn this early on, it will safe them innumerable pain and suffering. Remind me to share a Eckhart Tolle technique that is perfect for helping children learn to flow with what is. That is what emotions are meant to be – energy in motion, e motion. Energies are not meant to stagnate leading to anxiety or depression. Teach yourself and your children to merely (yes, I know that merely is a huge one) allow the emotions to arise and pass away.
