If you still believe awakening is unicorns butterflies and ice cream cones I would recommend you not listen to this. If you’re interested in what it’s really like, highly recommended.
Yesterday I was recounting to a friend a dream someone told me at the David Whyte weekend workshop. It was probably about 25 years ago it was definitely before my daughter was born and I still remember it vividly. He was standing on the edge of a cliff and given these instructions to step off. Of course he felt terrified and initially couldn’t get himself to do it. But The instructions were clear and he knew it wouldn’t work to stay on top of the cliff so he took the first step. Magically a ledge appeared right under his foot. He wanted to stay there and stay safe but that ledge began to disappear. He knew he needed to take the next step into the void into the unknown even though it felt terrifying. So he did. And lo and behold another ledge appeared right under his foot as he set it down. This kept happening. He kept wanting to stay where he was and he had to keep leaping into the unknown, Into the void.
That for me is a better description of life after awakening. It’s not always easy it’s not always kind. And you don’t have to make up your mind. (playing here on the lyrics to a song.)In fact what happens is your mind begins to dissolve.
Thanks Matt for the video really spoke to me.
