honoring children’s wisdom

I was speaking to my daughter yesterday about how well we got along in her childhood with the exception of sometimes forcing her to go to school and generally forcing her to do homework. It was incredibly stressful. I would do it completely differently now. Her wisdom showed her that a lot of what she was learning was nonsense and she refused to comply. At that time I thought it was essential that she comply.
When I hear some of what the schools are teaching now it’s hard for me not to be horrified. When I think about the force that will have to be exerted for many of these wise children to be made to go to school, I experience sadness at how many family relationships will be impacted and stressed for what now appears to me to be a bunch of nonsense and more than nonsense, toxic and traumatizing.
Just wanted to get that off my chest. I choose to continue to envision a world where our children’s wisdom is honored.
May be an image of sculpture, outdoors and monument
