We are born as the embodiment of Love. Yet our conditioning slowly erases our knowledge of our own perfection. Time erodes our self appreciation until we are filled with doubt, anger, fear, resentment, sadness or any combination of these. Yet slowly that shifts when we wake up to our own pain and begin to question and inquire. We begin to appreciate and love ourselves merely because we exist, we are, we live. We bring our love to ourselves as though to the most precious child, which of course we are. Moment by moment, we direct our attention to loving rather than hating ourselves. For me this seemed like mission impossible and despite years of attention and focus, my self hatred seemed to mount. I felt different, ostracized by my self critical nature. I taught a class called Self Love is not for Wimps! because I desperately needed it. At first, it all seemed to get worse yet gradually a few glimmers of love popped through until slowly I woke up and began to love myself for no reason. While the journey may be long and uncertain, it is so basic and required learning to come Home. The feeling of Homecoming I have experienced on this journey is indescribable yet the culmination of a lifetime of yearning. To reside in my own body and to feel safe, to feel at peace, to feel a glowing Love for everyone and everything, ah dear friends, what could be more delicious. I assure you, once you commit, the end is certain. We shall all return Home to our own hearts. Loving ourselves is the key that opens the door and restores us to our own splendor. We love ourselves until we move beyond duality and there is no longer two parts of ourselves, one needing to love the other. Rather we embody Love itself as all that we are.
