kindness and compassion

Fourth in line at the convenient store. Everybody makes their purchases and I’m next in line. The minute I walk up to the counter the man tells me that he had a $13,000 plumbing bill and that he’s very stressed. I literally had not said a word.
I am convinced that the energy of compassion and kindness radiates out from each of us that makes that choice. We have no idea how much our presence may soothe another. At least when I have myself together, compassion is my “Religion.”
Also I met a new friend in person for the first time today. She is 82 and has done tireless work for the homeless. She had one inspiring story after another of how impactful it is to meet each homeless person with kindness, without an agenda or the belief they need to be fixed or changed. Such an inspiration and breath of fresh air.
