When in the midst of deep unraveling and integration, it is easy to become lost in suffering. Our eyes may become blind to the gifts in our lives, focused almost exclusively on what is not working and how to get free. We may fall into self judgment or pity, angry at the world for how ruthless life is, perhaps it seems so unfair. Look again, there is always beauty, always magic. It might be peeping through the window, or hidden under the apple tree, down by the river. Honor what is arising without asking your alive experience to be different then it is. Know that the mystery of your soul has declared this is what serves. Do not ask for explanations as they may be too obscure to understand. Live with an inner yes and with X-ray eyes that see beyond the surface.
Bless the freezing cold waterfall on a boiling hot day, the silence of the small park tucked away in the bustle of the big city, the refreshing ice cubes tinkling in your glass, the soft fur of your beloved cat, the shimmering green of a distant hillside, water rushing out merely through turing a tap, enough food to eat, the sound of waves crashing on the shore, a humming bird whisking by to bring a message of joy, friends to dance with, the feeling of warmth caressing a beloved’s hand, soft sheets under your weary body. Magic surrounds us yet can get lost in the din of everyday life, buried under the chaos of politics or pressures at work. Take a moment to look around you in this moment. How many things can you see to give thanks for? Look with new eyes to see that miracles abound.
If today is the day sadness wants to have its way with you say yes, welcome it with arms open not knowing where it will lead but certain it has come as vibrant presence gushing from your own inner aliveness. Perhaps anger wants to send molten lava to lay waste to your surroundings. Can you allow the gifts and the anger to exist side by side? Does one cancel the other? Stoke your own cheek, look into the eyes reflected in the mirror. Know it is only the Beloved who looks back.
