BIRTHDAY REQUEST: My college boyfriend was born on the same day of the same year as me. About 11 months ago he shared with me a delicious post someone had written on his birthday and I saved it. Oops, lost it in the last month so apparently I have to write my own post. I would love to know how people perceive me. All of it. Include anything you like. Impressions, likes, course corrective feedback, ways I have inspired you, motivated you, enlightened you. Ways I have hurt or disappointed you, confused you. Memories we have together, times that brought you joy or sorrow, anything you want me to know or remember. Whatever tickles you fancy and lights you up or that feels painful but important. I want all of it, to celebrate this whole messy, delicious thing called life. I find sometimes people make comments about me, saying Savannah is so and so and I am like really, that is how people perceive me? Fascinating, I don’t see myself that way at all. I would be tickled pink if you take the time to do this. So much love savannah
my old boyfriend just sent me the original, what a nice gift:
So here’s my birthday request (inspired by a few friends who have made
similar requests):
Would you email me (or if you prefer, call/voicemail: 530-575-5052)
about one or more of the following topics? This would make me happy.
1. An appreciation note about how I have touched your life or impacted
you in a positive way.
2. A “mirroring” note to help me see things about myself as you see
them, particularly things, good or bad, that I may not be aware of.
3. A clearing note to make more connection: if there is some distance
between us, or something we have to clear, perhaps a hurt I caused,
let me know, so we can build understanding and renew our relationship.
Or try to at least.
4. A “reality check” note: if there is any way you think I may have
judged you, please tell me. I’ll check in and let you know whether I
see elements of truth in your concern.
5. A note of your choosing. About me of course. It’s my birthday!
Thank you. I love you.
Thanks for all the birthday cards, calls, presents, donations but most of all the love; it was a birthday to remember.
